Street Skateboard

Lets start off with street skateboard.

Street skateboards are a type of skateboard that you use to perform tricks.

These tricks are usually done using any objects that are around you, such as stairs, railings and benches.

If you are looking to pick up the street skateboard, you will need to look out for decks that are more on the narrow side.

And due to the narrow deck size, this skateboard utilizes small wheels that are around 48mm to 55mm in size.

Vert Skateboard

A vert skateboard, as the name suggests, requires the rider to ride vertically up and down walls or inclines, while performing tricks.

Compared to the street skateboard, vert skateboards have wider decks.

This width provides you with greater stability when performing tricks and riding on the inclines.

Vert skateboard types also usually comes with bigger wheels, which again increases the stability of the skateboard.

Slalom Skateboard

Slalom skateboards are used for downhill racing following a skittle (or cone) trail.

Going downhill and zig-zaging, slalom type of skateboards provide greater controls to you, the rider.

You will need much control in making turns, accelerating as well as quick hard braking.

For these reasons, the decks for slalom skateboards are made bigger and longer.

The added length and width provides greater stability and control to the board.

You will also notice these boards come with big but softer wheels, which in turn influences the speed and road traction when going down hills.

Cruising Skateboard

Probably my favorite skateboard, cruising skateboard is a type of skateboard that gets you around.

It is often referred as the skateboard for transportation.

These types of skateboards are not really made for stunts.

Instead these skateboards are aimed as a means for transportation.

It would make a great college mobility vehicle, helping you get across campus in speed and style.

As you will be spending long time commuting, cruising skateboards should be comfortable.

The decks should not be too hard, and the softer boards will help in absorbing impacts that you will have when cruising on uneven surfaces.

Just like slalom skateboards, cruising skateboards are equipped with bigger wheels for greater stability.
